In brief
The Copenhagen University College of Engineering (IHK) is the largest engineering college in Denmark. Since its foundation in 1881, the college has contributed to forming the development of the Danish society. This has happened partly through innovation and contribution of knowledge, and partly through supplying a continuous stream of well-educated engineers to the Danish society for 125 years.

Today, IHK is moving towards greater integration of knowledge institutions across national borders and technical barriers, and at the same time, positioning itself in relation to society’s demands for life-long learning.

The teaching at IHK is organised as a problem-based process of learning, where the problems cause the students to acquire theory and method. Problem-based processes of learning are employed for both individual studies and group work. The teaching is based on topicality, aimed at the students’ future working life, and the students work with real-life engineering problems in close cooperation with the business community.

Today, the Copenhagen University College of Engineering , in cooperation with Aalborg University, offers Diploma and Export Engineering education as well as MSc Engineering education. At the Diploma Engineering level, this comprises IT, Electronics, Power Current, Construction, Manufacturing, Machine and Export as well as the Electronics and Computer Engineering course which is taught in English. At MSc Engineering level, IHK, in cooperation with Aalborg University, offers four educations focusing on management. They are Export and Management, Construction and Management, Electronics and Management, and Manufacturing and Management. Moreover, IHK offers the MSc Engineering education in Communication Network focusing on Security.

IHK also offers an Access Course to the engineering educations, and the three international terms International Design Semester, International Business Semester and European Project Semester.

Why we have chosen to provide a team for Grundfos Challenge
The Copenhagen University College of Engineering is taking part in Grundfos Challenge, because the challenge is interesting for an educational establishment such as ours, where the educational basis is a practical and theoretical approach to engineering problems. Precisely this approach is an optimal basis for taking part in the project which Grundfos has challenged us to tackle.

At the same time, we see the great benefits of entering into an actual professional dialogue about a technological problem with a leading company that has a global vision.

Another important motivation is that the students who take part in the competition will gain invaluable experience. This experience will influence their later specialization and above all their choice of career and career opportunities.
