THE JUDGES' REASONS FOR THE CHOICE OF THE WINNERS

Winners of the engineering prize:
Aarhus University, iNANO, Faculty of Science

The Team has through the week and through the presentation demonstrated high professionalism. Further more we have seen strong work process, which has shown that the team has managed to utilize the available resources in an effective way, to come from idea generation to a specific concept, which are covering all aspects.

The vision about rethinking the use of windows, by using the obtained solar energy in the water, which are floated through the windows, are supporting the Grundfos vision of developing systems to Zero impact buildings, and can at the same time be developed to a future business for Grundfos.

Winners of the economics prize:
University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Life Sciences

The intent of this challenge was to bring ideas that lie out of the box. Not more pumps, not product line extensions, but concept that move our minds.

The winning team came with an exceptional, un-traditional idea, that could be linked directly into the business of Grundfos. It is a relevant, up-to-date and future oriented idea that not only will allow for large incomes as well as more concept sales for Grundfos, it also put Grundfos in the centre for improving the environment.

The idea is to measure CO2 savings from Grundfos concepts and sell them on the open market supporting the payback time on the sale and spending CO2 money where it matters.

Winners of the innovation prize:
Copenhagen University College of Engineering

The team has through an effective idea generation process, at an early stage in the competition, found the idea of producing drinkable water, by using the UV-a radiation directly from the sun.

The DUN system is collecting the radiation from the sun, and by a traditional parabolic reflector, transferring the UV-A radiation by optic fibres directly into water treatment. This is a very innovative and simple solution, if the idea will be realised.
