A world outside the university

Søren Porsgaard, Sofie Kastbjerg, Jakob Rasmussen fro Aarhus University

Why are you participating in Grundfos Challenge?
”We found it a very exciting challenge. We also thought it a good opportunity to get a nice experience and some exciting professional challenges. It is exciting to see what we can use our knowledge for in the business life.”

How is it going?
Very well indeed! We have found a good rhythm and so things are really going our way. We have speeded up quite frantically these last few days, so I’m sure we’ll come up with a great solution!”

What are you getting out of it?
It is exciting. We get a lot out of it – a lot of knowledge about things we didn’t know before. For us this is a completely new way of working. It is great to get an opportunity to focus so closely on the entire process. Team work in this way is a new way of working for us. That is great! We get an insight into things we didn’t know anything about – markets, the process, branding and so on. We have got a really great buddy team and we help each other continuously with our respective competence areas. In addition we have got to know a lot of people – this is also important.”

What do you expect to get out of it in the long view?
”I will be talking madly about Grundfos for some months, so people will probably get tired of me – but it is a damn good experience!” said Jakob Rasmussen.
Sofie and Søren: ” Until now we have only seen the world of universities and all three of us want to stay on to complete a PhD. For us it is really exciting and different to get out into the real world and see how it works, realising that it might be exciting to get a job in the business world.
After many years at the university, it is nice to know that there is a world outside with other exciting challenges.”
