Grundfos NoNOx® product range Based on our innovative Digital Dosing Pump technology using a stepper motor to fully control the stroke of a diaphragm pump, specific automotive products were developed: Urea Dosing Systems (UDS). Digital Dosing technology allows very precise dosing all over a wide range of flow. This leads to high NOx conversion with low risk of ammonia slip for the SCR system. GRUNDFOS developed an innovative hydraulic circuit, where the UDS is assisted by the vehicle air supply, to bring the dosed volume of urea to the injection nozzle in the exhaust system and also to atomize the urea in the nozzle. As urea freezes at –11°C, an internal automatic heater was added to allow correct operation at extreme low temperatures (down to –40°C). This function can be adapted to other reactants with different freezing points. An electronic controller manages the whole UDS via CAN signals (standard automotive communication bus).
