Sewage
Untreated wastewater and raw sewage containing fibres, textiles and other solids, including toilet discharge from domestic sewage systems, farms and industry. The minimum free passage through the pump has to be at least 50 mm. To avoid clogging in commercial building, farms, industry etc. a free passage for solids up to 65-80 mm are recommended. Be aware that toilet discharge often contains foreign bodies such as nappies, tampons, toilet rolls, children's toys and toothbrushes.
Example of sewage job
Sewage from domestic dwellings without gravity systems needs to be lifted to another system for removal. A wastewater system can be placed in one of two places according to individual system needs and requirements:
- Inside the building:
The pump station is installed in the basement, collecting and removing wastewater from blocks of flats, for instance.
- Outside the building:
A substation is often used to collect and transfer wastewater from one or more homes. Here, applications often demand a long pressure pipe and high pressure.
Grundfos recommends the following pump solutions
- Grundfos Multilift M/MD lifting stations (for installations inside the building). Please contact your local Grundfos dealer for more information.
Pit with AP 50, AP50B or SEG pump (for installations outside the building)
Prefabricated Grundfos Pumping Stations are available, please contact your local Grundfos dealer for more information.
